Your Dubai graduation ceremony and your private celebration: keep two plans

Your Dubai graduation ceremony and your private celebration: keep two plans — Lunar Moments editorial illustration

A Dubai graduation can bring two occasions into the same family plan: the university's official ceremony and a private celebration you arrange separately. Keep them distinct from the start. Registering for the ceremony, organising its guests and agreeing the graduate's commitments come before choosing a window for a meal, gathering or balloon surprise.

The private celebration can include different people and feel different from the formal occasion. Ask the graduate what they would enjoy, then make a plan that respects the actual ceremony arrangements rather than guessing when everyone will be free.

Start with the graduate's own instructions

Ask the graduate to check their university's official information for the ceremony they intend to attend. Which attendance or registration steps must they complete? Where should they find the current schedule and guest arrangements? Keep those answers with the family's plan.

You do not need to copy private student account details into a group chat. Record the practical commitments the graduate is comfortable sharing and the official page or contact they will use for unanswered questions.

Use official university guidance, not another family's experience

As one institution-specific example, Heriot-Watt University's Dubai ceremony ticket guidance explains that guest tickets are ordered through its online graduation application system and that graduands register attendance on arrival. Its separate Dubai “On the day” page provides ceremony arrival and registration instructions.

Those are Heriot-Watt Dubai resources, not rules for every university. Follow the graduate's own institution and actual ceremony instructions. Ask the university about unresolved attendance or guest questions rather than treating a private celebration invitation as an answer.

Keep two guest lists

Make one list for the ceremony's actual confirmed guest arrangements and another for the private gathering. Someone may be invited to celebrate afterwards without attending the official ceremony. Make that distinction clear when speaking with relatives or friends.

For a fictional example, a graduate might want a private family meal that includes a cousin who is not part of the ceremony guest arrangements. The organiser could invite the cousin to the meal while saying that the university attendance is arranged separately. This is an illustrative planning example, not a promise of ceremony entry or an actual family's booking.

Keep unanswered ceremony requests visibly unanswered. Do not ask a decorator, a restaurant or another guest to resolve university attendance on the graduate's behalf.

Choose the private moment around actual commitments

Ask the graduate when they would like to celebrate privately once their official commitments are clear. They might prefer a gathering on another day rather than another appointment immediately around the ceremony. Leave that choice open until it suits the people involved.

If family members are visiting, explain which part of the plan they are invited to and which arrangements they need to confirm separately. Avoid filling an entire day with assumed times because one ceremony appointment appears in the calendar.

A ceremony-and-private-celebration card

Two plans to complete with actual answers
Decision Official ceremony plan Separate private celebration
Source of the arrangement [Graduate's university instructions, checked on date] [Graduate's preference and organiser's proposal]
Attendance [Graduate's actual registration status; questions for university] [Invited people and their replies]
Guests [Actual confirmed ceremony guest arrangements] [Private invitees, without ceremony entry implied]
Place and time [Actual official commitments to check] [Requested Dubai local date/window and venue agreement]
Who answers questions? [Graduate and actual university contact] [Private host, venue and supplier separately]

Update the whole relevant entry if something changes, and tell affected invitees which plan has changed. Keep the graduate's official commitments separate from requested decoration access.

Choose the private message after the plan is agreed

The Personalised Bubble Balloons listing describes custom names, ages and messages, with colour-theme options. You can ask about wording for the separately arranged celebration, such as “Congratulations, [Name]”. This is an original illustrative message to discuss, not a graduation package or a confirmed design.

Agree the complete wording with the graduate or chosen organiser. Keep university names or other requested design details subject to the relevant person's agreement and the team's response.

Enquire about the celebration you are actually arranging

Ask Lunar Moments about the private display with the agreed setting, proposed message, full Dubai local date and any venue permission or access questions. Confirm the product scope, design, delivery/setup arrangements, total quote and booking terms.

University attendance remains with the university's process; the private venue and decoration arrangements need their own answers. An enquiry or quote does not confirm a booking.
