Changing the celebration date after a decoration quote

The Birthday Moment catalogue illustration

If your celebration date changes after a decoration quote, first establish whether you have an enquiry, a quote or an actual booking. Give the team the old and proposed dates, identify what else changes, and ask for the applicable availability, scope and terms to be confirmed. Keep the earlier plan visible until the status of the requested change is clear.

This is a post-quote decision record for Dubai residents and business organisers. It does not establish a right to reschedule, a fee, a refund or availability on a new date. Those questions depend on the actual arrangement and the terms that apply to it.

Identify what is already confirmed

Find the latest quote or booking reference and record its status accurately. A quote request is not a booking. If you are unsure whether an order has been confirmed, ask the team before describing the request as a reschedule.

  • Enquiry only: update the requested date and ask what can be proposed.
  • Quote received: ask whether the quotation can be revised for the proposed date and changed details.
  • Booking confirmed: identify the booking and ask which change process and terms apply before assuming the new date is agreed.
  • Status unclear: resolve the status first; do not infer it from an old message saying a quote was sent.

Keep any payment or deposit information already associated with the arrangement available for the team to identify through its normal process. Do not treat a date-change request as confirmation of how that payment will be handled.

Published cancellation and rescheduling terms

The Lunar Moments shipping policy, checked on 22 October 2026, states:

  • Reschedule free of charge with at least 72 hours' notice and your deposit carries over to your new date.
  • For cancellations more than 72 hours before the event date, 30% of the order value is non-refundable.
  • For cancellations within 72 hours before the event date, excluding the event day, 30% of the order value is non-refundable.
  • Cancellations on the event day are non-refundable.

The published terms do not establish availability on a new date or which terms apply to an earlier booking. A requested booking change still needs agreement.

List everything affected by the new date

Write the full old and proposed dates with Dubai local time labels for the event, access and requested ready-by window. If the time is unchanged, still include it. A message saying “same time next week” leaves the date and context open to interpretation.

Check whether the address, venue, receiving contact, room, message or birthday digits also change. Keep an unchanged item marked as unchanged so the revised request does not quietly grow into a different decoration brief.

If the quote is for The Birthday Moment, its listed baseline is 35 helium balloons, two 40-inch number balloons and coordinating ribbon. The listing states that delivery is charged separately. Carry the actual agreed item list and delivery question into the revision; the old date’s quote does not establish a new date’s total or arrangements.

Use a date-change decision record

Decoration date change: request, reply and final version
Field Old arrangement Proposed change and actual answer
Status and reference Enquiry, quote or confirmed booking; latest reference. Record any status question that must be resolved.
Date and times Full Dubai date, access and event times. Requested new date and windows; confirmed or pending.
Location and contact Existing address and receiving contact. Any change, with the person who can confirm access.
Items and wording Agreed package, digits, message and design version. Unchanged or specific requested variation.
Supplier answer Earlier quote or booking confirmation. Actual availability response, revised scope and applicable terms.
Other arrangements Venue or separately booked services involved. Each party’s own answer, not inferred from the decorator’s reply.
Current working version Earlier version retained for reference. Latest agreed version, open points and who has been updated.

Keep the different confirmations separate

A venue accepting the proposed date does not confirm the decoration team’s availability. A decoration quote being revised does not automatically change a separately booked photographer, florist or meal. Ask each responsible contact about their own arrangement.

For an illustrative case, a family could have a quote but no decoration booking, while the venue is already booked. The family needs two separate answers: what the decoration team can propose for the new date and what the venue says about its existing booking. A positive answer from one does not settle the other.

If a change is conditional or further information is requested, mark it as pending. Do not announce the new setup time to everyone as confirmed while the supplier is still checking it.

Replace the working plan only with the status made clear

Once the replies are understood, save the full revised quote or confirmation and identify which earlier planning version it replaces. Tell the organiser and receiving contact exactly what changed and what remains open.

Renaming a file or crossing out a calendar entry does not itself cancel or amend an existing booking. Ask the team to identify the actual booking status and terms that apply, especially where a date is already confirmed or a payment has been made.

Use the fixed-budget priorities guide if the proposed scope needs reconsidering. Keep that design decision separate from the supplier’s answer about dates and terms.

Our current reference is [quote or booking reference], for [old full date]. We would like to request [new full date and Dubai time windows]. The location, contact and item changes are [details, or unchanged]. Please confirm the current status of our arrangement, whether the proposed change can be agreed, any revised quote and the applicable terms. We will keep the request marked pending until the answer is clear.

Send Lunar Moments the complete date-change request. The quote guidance explains the scope to confirm; use the actual supplier reply for your arrangement rather than assuming availability or a charge.

Post-quote date-change questions

Does receiving a quote mean the original date was booked?

No. An enquiry or quote does not confirm a booking. Ask the team to identify the actual status and reference before describing the request as a change to a confirmed booking.

Can I assume the price and arrangements stay the same on the new date?

No. Ask for the actual availability response, revised scope and applicable terms. Keep delivery, setup, requested changes and the total tied to the date and location being discussed.

Does the decorator’s agreement change my venue or other supplier booking?

No. Keep each arrangement’s status and reply separate. Confirm the change with the responsible party rather than treating one supplier’s answer as approval for everyone.
